Vigilance Arrests Superintending Engineer After ‘Highest Ever’ Cash Seizure In Odisha’s Malkangiri
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Tuesday arrested superintending engineer Ashish Kumar Dash following highest ever cash seizure from his possession and subsequent searches in his properties.
A team of Odisha Vigilance had intercepted Dash, Superintending Engineer, RW Division, No-I, Malkangiri while he was removing cash from his carry bags in the manager’s room of DCB Bank, Malkangiri on March 25. During interception, suspected ill-gotten cash of Rs 10,23,970 was found from his possession.
Following this, Vigilance officials conducted searches in government quarters of Dash at Malkangiri, his office room, house at native village Jemadeipur under Tomka police limits in Jajpur district and his apartment at Shantivan, Belagachia, Trisulia, Cuttack.
During searches, the Vigilance sleuths unearthed Rs 1.39 crore which was highest ever cash seizure in history of Odisha Vigilance, deposits worth over Rs 4 crore in banks and insurance schemes, gold jewellery weighing around 2.5 kg worth Rs 1.25 crore, the flat in Trisulia worth over Rs 32.30 lakhs and a plot at Baripal in Keonjhar district.
One more bank locker and a number of bank accounts are yet to be verified, stated a Vigilance release.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Dash and arrested him. Dash will be forwarded to the court on Wednesday. Further investigation is in progress.
