Cuttack: Vigilance officials arrested two state government officers on charges of disproportionate assets and an ASI and a data entry operator for taking bribe on Thursday.
The Vigilance officers of Sambalpur Division searched the residences and office of Dillip Kumar Patel, Executive Officer, Brajarajnagar Municipality in Jharsuguda district. The search was conducted simultaneously in his government quarters at Jharsuguda, a double-storey building at his native village Belmunda, double-storey building at Debadihi, petrol pump of a relative at Samasingha, house of a relative at Kadobahal and office room at Brajarajnagar.
Following the search, Patel was found in possession of assets worth Rs. 3,35,82,641. As Patel could not account for the properties satisfactorily, a case was registered and he was arrested and forwarded to court.
Similarly, Bidyadhar Behera, Sub-Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies was arrested following raids on his triple-storey residential building at Bhubaneswar, 2BHK flat at Bhubaneswar, house at native village Kumbharia in Bhadrak district and office room at Dhenkanal on Wednesday. He was found in possession of assets worth Rs. 1,80,27,064 which he could not account for.
The Vigilance sleuths of Cuttack Division nabbed Baisnab Charan Behera, ASI at Rajakanika police station in Kendrapara district while he was accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 5,000 from a complainant on Thursday. He was arrested and being forwarded to the court.
In the fourth case, Tapan Kumar Sethi, Data Entry Operator in office of Drug Inspector, Jagatsinghpur was caught by the Vigilance officers while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant. Sethi was arrested and being forwarded to the court.
In another case, Ramesh Kumar Behera, Dy. Director, Factories & Boilers, posted at Cuttack and presently working at Directorate of Factories & Boilers, Bhubaneswar, was found in possession of assets worth Rs. 1,48,59,466 after search in his flat at Bhubaneswar, triple-storey building at Kuanrda, out house at CDA, Cuttack, apartment at Puducherry, house of a relative at Cuttack, and office rooms at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
