Kalahandi: Vigilance sleuths caught an ASI red-handed while accepting a bribe from a person in Kalahandi district.
The accused, Malay Kumar Rana, is posted at the Mahulpatna police outpost near Thuamul Rampur.
According to sources, the ASI had demanded Rs 5,000 from the person to release his tractor that was seized from an accident site.
The person then complained to the Vigilance department. Following this, DSP Vigilance Satyaban Mahananda directed his men to lay a trap for the “corrupt” cop.
Accordingly, Vigilance sleuths caught Rana while he was taking the money from the complainant.
Vigilance sources said the chemical on Rana’s hands matched with that smeared on the notes as part of the anti-bribery operation.
