Vigilance Raid On Jr Engineer In Odisha; Rs 2.26 Cr Assets Unearthed, Over 1 Cr Bank Deposits
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Monday unearthed assets worth Rs 2.26 crore, including Rs 1.12 bank deposits, during simultaneous raids at four places, including residence and offices of Talcher block Junior Engineer Biranchi Narayan, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known source of income.
Raids were conducted these places in Angul & Dhenkanal districts:
1. Residential house at Kumuda, Angul
2. Residential house at Ambal, Angul
3. Relative’s residence at Meramundali in Dhenkanal
4. Office Chamber at BDO Office in Talcher
Assets Unearthed:
>> A double-storey and a single-storey building at Ambapal in Angul district
>> 4 plots, including three at Kumunda and one at Ambapal in Angul district.
>> 1 four-wheeler (Hyundai I10), 4 two-wheelers,
>> 261 gm gold ornaments worth Rs 10,44,000
>> 10 Fixed Deposit accounts in various banks with deposits worth Rs 46,24,500.
>> Rs 50,65,693 balance in Savings Accounts
>> Insurance deposits worth Rs.12,56,515
Movable and immovable properties, all totalling over Rs 2.26 crore, have been unearthed and further searches are continuing, an official release said.
Notably, Biranchi Narayan had joined as a Junior Engineer on a contractual basis in September 2010 and continued in the same position till December 2015 on a consolidated remuneration of Rs 12,500 per month. He was then regularised at a salary of Rs 39,000. His wife is a homemaker, it added.
