Balasore: Vigilance officials conducted raid on the residential house of a tehsildar in the district and unearthed properties worth more than Rs 1 crore in his possession.
Acting on reliable information, the Vigilance sleuths intercepted Bangiriposi tehsildar Abhimanyu Panda at Naharpatana Chowk under Balasore Sadar police station while he was coming to his house at Malikashpur in the town and found him carrying Rs 2,56,505 in cash on Friday.
During the search of his three-storey house, Rs 23,62,485 in cash, gold ornaments weighing 123.86 gramme, 34 pass books in different banks, 6 postal pass books, 63 land documents (sale deed and RoR), 10 debit and credit cards, 3 LIC policy documents, 2 SBI Life insurance policy documents, 3 SBI Mutual Fund policy documents, 2 locker keys of Punjab National Bank and Gramya Bank were seized.
Panda’s house was evaluated by local technical engineers at Rs 70,59,452. Steps are being taken to open the bank lockers. Balasore Vigilance has registered a case in this connection.
