Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance officials have recovered incriminating document relating to purchase of land and other valuable materials during simultaneous searches conducted at 15 different places linked to Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi and his associates on disproportionate assets (DA) charges on Sunday.
Besides the document relating to purchase of land, the Vigilance sleuths have recovered vehicles, jewellery and other articles, bank passbooks, credit/debit cards, laptops, mobiles during the searches so far.
They have seized all the materials for further examination to ascertain the extent of disproportionate assets acquired by Panigrahy. Besides, Rs 20 lakh in cash have been found from the associates of Panigrahy and its sources are being verified. The searches were continuing till the report was filed.
The searches were carried out on a direction from the Odisha Lokayukta on the basis of an inquiry report on the allegation that the MLA had amassed assets
disproportionate to known sources of income by resorting to corrupt practices.
The legislator had allegedly amassed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 5 crore.
