Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance officials on Thursday recovered around Rs 2 crore in cash from the house of assistant engineer Kartikeswar Roul in Bhubaneswar.
The Vigilance sleuths recovered properties worth over Rs 2.76 crore during raids on Roul, assistant engineer of Minor Irrigation Division, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district on Wednesday. The raids were conducted following allegation that he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During search in the house of Roul and his second wife Kalpana Pradhan at Tata Ariana flat 0505 in the city on Thursday, the Vigilance officials recovered around Rs 2 crore in cash. They had to use counting machine to count the cash.
During simultaneous house searches on the properties of Roul at 6 places in Khurda and Ganjam districts on Wednesday, the Vigilance had found two double-storey buildings, two flats, 7 plots of land and deposits worth over Rs 37 lakh in the name of the assistant engineer.
