Chennai: Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay had a proud father moment during his Madhurandhagam roadshow, as he held up a photo of his son Jason Sanjay and showcased his “sigma” frame to the crowd.
The moment quickly caught attention online, coming on a significant day for Jason as he marks his directorial debut with Sigma.
Although Vijay could not attend the film’s first-day-first-show, his gesture during the roadshow reflected his support for his son as he embarks on his journey as a director.

While Vijay was away, Jason’s mother Sangeetha Sornalingam and sister Divya Saasha attended the first-day-first-show of Sigma at Kamala Cinemas in Chennai.
Sangeetha smiled and acknowledged the paparazzi as she arrived, while Divya sported a black Sigma T-shirt to show her support. Jason was also present at the theatre with his family as the film opened in cinemas.

Vijay had another engagement earlier that morning, launching a free bus travel initiative for women before heading out for his Madhurandhagam election campaign. As a result, he could not join his family at the screening.
Ahead of Sigma’s release, Jason Sanjay opened up about how he expected his father, Vijay, to react after watching the film.
He revealed that Vijay generally takes his time before sharing his views.
Speaking to Pearls Maaney in an interview, he said, “I think you need more time to analyse the film. But he’ll like the film. He’ll be proud.”
Jason has also revealed that Vijay was among the first people to support his decision to pursue filmmaking as a career.
“He was the first one to give me a green signal because he has been in the industry for so long,” he shared.
Jason’s directorial debut also drew congratulatory messages from several members of the Tamil film industry.
Ahead of the release, Suriya sent his best wishes to Jason, writing, “Welcome, Sanjay! Can’t believe little Sanjay is a director now! 😊 Big day tomorrow. All the very best to @official_jsj. Hearty wishes to @sundeepkishan, @LycaProductions and the cast & crew of #Sigma.”
Karthi also extended his best wishes to Jason as he embarked on his filmmaking journey, writing, “I’m truly happy that you’ve chosen cinema! For the grounded and charming young man that you are, I wish you every success, happiness, and above all, the love of our people.”
At 26, Jason Sanjay has made his feature directorial debut with Sigma, an action-adventure heist film led by Sundeep Kishan.
The story follows Guru, a librarian and treasure hunter who finds himself drawn into a ₹500-crore underworld racket.
He teams up with his friends to execute a heist, but betrayals and unexpected twists complicate their plans.
Faria Abdullah plays the female lead, alongside Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Yog Japee and Raju Sundaram.
