Bhubaneswar: Odisha suffered their fourth defeat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy meet, bowing to Haryana by 4 wickets in Jaipur on Friday.
Asked to bat first at Dr Soni Stadium, Odisha rode half-centuries by Rajesh Dhuper (69), Sandeep Pattanaik (69) and Prayash Singh (50) to post 268/5 in their quota of 50 overs. It was allrounder Prayash’s quickfire knock, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes in the death overs, that helped Odisha reach 268.
Haryana paced their chase well after losing the first wicket in the sixth over, when Tapash Das had Himanshu Rana caught by Prayash.
Yuvraj Singh (67) and skipper Ankit Rana (62) set the platform with a 96-run partnership. Big-hitting left-hander Rahul Tewatia’s 59 not out (37 balls, 5×4, 3×6) tamed the Odisha bowlers as Haryana reached the target with three full overs to spare.
Odisha, with 8 points in 6 games, are out of contention for a berth in the knockout rounds. Their last match against group toppers Gujarat (24) is only of academic interest.
