Bhadrak: A vehicle used for the central government’s Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was allegedly vandalised in Dhamnagar area of Odisha’s Bhadrak on Wednesday.
As per information, the incident reportedly took place in Chudakiti panchayat under the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency.
The sankalp yatra is being organised to create awareness through outreach activities and achieve saturation of various welfare schemes launched by the Central government.
Sources said several miscreants barged into the sankalp yatra programme at Chudakiti fair ground and ransacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cut out and the vehicle. They also attacked some workers, leaving them injured.
Soon after the incident, BJP MLA from Dhamnagar Suryavanshi Suraj targeted the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and described the incident as a sponsored attack on the yatra.
Holding BJD responsible for the vandalism, he claimed that BJD is unable to tolerate the developmental and welfare works being undertaken by PM Modi.
Refuting the allegation, BJD’s district unit vice president, Ashok Nayak said the regional party does not believe in violence.
