Sonepur: Residents of Chinajuri village in Sonepur district gave a grand welcome to soldier Rabi Mahakur who returned to his home on Tuesday after serving the Indian Army for 17 years.
The villagers garlanded the Army jawan and greeted him by playing drums and cymbals as a mark of respect. The residents also performed a yaga at the village for his unstinted sacrifice for the Mother Land.
“My first posting was along China border in Uttaranchal state. Then I was posted to Israel and Syria. My villagers and members of Koshal Sena welcomed me in my honour,” said Rabi Mahakur.
“This is a very proud moment for me. Today, I got retired from the Army after serving for 17 years. Jai Hind,” he added.
Dancing to the drumbeats, Koshal Sena members along with other villagers took out a procession to the bus stand on a flower bedecked mini truck.
