Village Residents Boycott Voting At Various Places In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Village residents are boycotting elections at several places in Odisha during the fourth and final phase that is underway on Monday.

A total of 95,14,883 voters will decide the fate of 388 candidates in this phase.

Voters of Balikuda-Ersma Assembly seat and three villages in Patkura have boycotted the polls. So also, people of Naliapala village under Garei panchayat of Erasama. Residents of Bhitarandari village under Balikuda-Ersama Assembly constituency also boycotted the polls, alleging that the police in their localities had misbehaved with them.

Demanding compensation for family members of some who died in a road mishap, people of  Singitia, Lekhanapada, and Panasuapada villages in Patkura, too, boycotted polls. According to latest reports, not a single voter was present at booths in these areas.

Likewise, members of 302 families at Bargadia Dalitsahi in Sukinda boycotted polls. They refused to cast votes over false assurance given by the district administration to shift them from Kalinganagar Industrial area in Jajpur.
