Puri: The executive officer (EO) of a panchayat in Odisha’s Puri district has been found cleaning office furniture with National Flag. A video on the incident has gone viral in social media.
The video shows Prashant Kumar Swain, executive officer of Simili panchayat under Gop block of the district, picking up a Tricolour made of cotton cloth in an office room. He is also shown using it as a dusting cloth to clean the chairs and tables in the room.
Then Swain goes on to use it to clean his mobile phone and the cobwebs on the walls. But the video does not mention when the incident took place.
After the video went viral, the EO released another video admitting his mistake and seeking apology from the people for disrespecting the National Flag. “Due to pressure of work, I unmindfully misused our National Flag. I am very sorry for my action which is highly regrettable and condemnable. I beg apology from fellow countrymen for my mistake and promise not to commit it in future,” he said.
