Bhubaneswar: The exclusive virtual dance festival ‘Happy For Hope’ successfully completed its 5th edition on June 7.
‘Happy For Hope’, India’s first ever online dance festival, had started on Mother’s Day with classical dancers from across the country performing on a virtual platform. Every Sunday, 10-12 artistes showcase their talent on this virtual platform in view of the lockdown.
Renowned Odissi dancer Saswat Joshi launched this online dance festival in a bid to assist the stage artistes who have been badly hit because of the lockdown.
“The lockdown has put a brake on all activities and the artiste community has been affected badly. Since there are no events or platforms for them to perform and earn, I decided to start this festival. It began on Mother’s Day and I plan to continue it every Sunday till the lockdown ends,” said Saswat.
The artistes are also happy that they have got a chance to perform during the lockdown, he added.
