Mumbai: Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani joined the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday, backing the demonstration led by Abhijeet Dipke.

Dadlani was seen chanting “Go Gyan Go” as the protesters demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Vishal said, “Yeh itna sundar drishya hai. Mujhe inke (Abhijit) saath Delhi mein hone ka mauka nahi mila lekin yahan hone ka mauka mil raha hai. Yeh aandolan chalu rahega tab tak jab tak… ‘Go Gyanu Go’.”

Vishal had earlier voiced his support for Dipke and the protest through social media posts.

He later joined Dipke at Shivaji Park, where the CJP held its ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’.

The protest was held in support of the CJP’s demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to step down.

The CJP has also alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming that around 13 crore names were removed from voter lists during the exercise.

The claim has not been independently verified or established.

Dipke has also claimed that changes of this scale in electoral rolls could affect elections.

The CJP went ahead with its planned protest at Shivaji Park despite Mumbai Police not granting permission, citing regulations governing public assemblies and traffic-related considerations.

Actor Shabana Azmi also attended the protest after previously expressing her support for the gathering and urging people to raise questions about their voting rights.
