Jaipur: As part of Unlock 1.0, Rajasthan has opened up its tourism sector, which is a major revenue earner for the state. And already, tourist spots in the state are attracting a steady flow of visitors.
In two days since reopening, over 1400 people have visited monuments and other popular landmark spots.
The state tourism ministry is not charging any entry fee for 15 days. Of the 342 monuments, including 18 museums in the state, 32 require tickets for entry under normal circumstances.
The government organized cultural performances by folk artists at 32 of those spots on June 2 to mark the resumption of activities in tourism sector after a gap of more than two months.
The monuments, except those located in curfew areas, will be be open on four days a week — Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday — for the first two weeks. In the first week, visiting hours are 9 am to 2 pm and in the second week from 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm.
Social distancing protocols will have to be strictly followed by visitors and staff.
From the third week, the monuments will open daily and 50 % discount will be offered on the ticket amount till October 31, he said.
“The department is using social media like Facebook and Twitter, where small video clips of every museum are uploaded in order to attract tourists,” a tourism ministry official said.
Most of the tourists visited Alwar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Pali, Kota, Jhalawar, Bikaner and Bundi on the first two days.
