Bhubaneswar: With an objective to rehabilitate beggars and improve their livelihood, the Odisha government has decided to provide them with vocational training.
Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said that the state government, which has undertaken developments works to make the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar as major tourist destinations, will rehabilitate the beggars very soon.
“It has been decided that in the first phase, the state government will set up vocational training centres in Puri and Bhubaneswar where those begging near the temple and the roadside will be trained so that they can start their business. The government will set up vocational training centres for beggars in the remaining districts in subsequent phases,” he added.
