Voices Rise Against Ali Zafar Of Sexual Harassment
Karachi: The sexual harassment charges against actor Ali Zafar gained momentum after women from Pakistan’s entertainment industry alleged misbehaviour by the actor on several occasions. The accusations have come to the fore a day after after singer Meesha Shafi alleged sexual harassment of the actor.
After Shafi posted a lengthy tweet stating she had been subjected to sexual harassment ‘of a physical nature,’ more women expressed their instances on the social media.
Pakistani journalist Maham Javaid allged in a tweet that Zafar had tried to kiss her cousin.
“So @itsmeeshashafi’s brave sharing of her experience reminded me of a story about @AliZafarsays from many many years ago, when Ali Zafar tried to kiss my cousin and pull my cousin into a restroom with him. Luckily my cousin’s friends were there to push Ali Zafar off,” she tweeted.
Leena Ghani, a make-up artist based in Pakistan wrote that she was inappropriately touched while clicking a selfie with the actor. “In the many years I have known Ali, he has on several occasions crossed boundaries of what is appropriate behaviour between friends. I have chosen to ignore it out of respect for his family, but today I feel I must speak my truth in light of recent revelations,” Leena tweeted.
Zafar, has however, denied Shafi’s allegations and said he ‘intends to take this through the courts of law.”
