Sambalpur: The registrar of Vir Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla has ordered deduction of three-day salary of 61 teachers, who had staged dharna in July demanding ouster of vice-chancellor Dr Atal Choudhury.
In a notice, the registrar has said that the deduction of the salary of the 61 teachers, comprising professors, associate professors and assistant professors, will be done in accordance with the ‘no work, no pay’ statute of the VSSUT.
Notably, the teachers had staged a three-day dharna from July 25 demanding ouster of the vice-chancellor alleging that no developmental work had been done since he joined the varsity in January 2018.
It may be mentioned here that seven teachers of the university have been placed under suspension by the order of the Odisha governor and Chancellor of universities Ganeshi Lal on the recommendation of the Skill Development and Technical Education department in response to the report by the vice-chancellor.
