VVIP Nowcast: Rain To Lash Bhubaneswar During PM Modi’s Event; Yellow Alert For 5 Odisha Dists

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its VVIP nowcast, in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for launch of Subhadra Yojana, warned of very light rain in Bhubaneswar till 2.15 pm.

The temperature in the city is likely to hover around 31-33 degree Celsius with a humidity of 65-75%.

The weather agency has also issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain for some parts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Bhadrak and Kendrapada till 2.45 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

The Prime Minister had proceed to Gadakana area near Sainik School and interacted with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) after arriving in the state capital at 11 am. He is slated unveil 26 lakh houses under the scheme  Thereafter, he will leave for Janata Maidan for the launch of Subhadra Yojana, under which Rs 10,000 will be transferred to eligible women beneficiaries between the ages of 21 and 60 in the state every year in two equal instalments for a period of five years. He is also slated to launch several railway and national highway projects worth Rs 3800 crore during the event, which will continue till 1 pm.
