Tehran: Iran said it has intensified its strikes across the Gulf in response to renewed US operations and the reimposition of a naval blockade.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the launch of the fourth phase of its “Nasr 2” operation, saying it struck the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and hit fuel depots and equipment facilities. The IRGC also claimed attacks on US positions in Kuwait and said it struck a vessel it described as linked to the United States, as reported by DNA.
Iran’s army said it carried out dro
ne strikes on Jordan’s Al‑Azraq airbase as part of the seventh phase of “Operation Lightning”, targeting facilities it specified as housing F‑18 fighters and personnel.
In a statement issued by the Army Public Relations Department, the Iranian army said, “In the seventh phase of Operation Lightning, and in continuation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s devastating drone attacks against US bases in the region, an hour ago, the location of the F‑18 fighter jets, the accommodation building, and the large equipment shed of the US terrorist army at the Al‑Azraq base in Jordan were targeted by destructive drone attacks.”
Kuwaiti officials reported that their air-defence batteries shot down incoming missiles while they responded to a series of Iranian drone strikes. Tehran framed the attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait as revenge for a recent US operation and the renewed enforcement of a naval blockade against Iranian ports.
The IRGC has also claimed responsibility for strikes on US positions in Kuwait and for an attack on Bahrain’s Al Juffair naval base. US Central Command said American forces struck targets in Iran again amid moves to reimpose a blockade on Iran’s coastline.
