[Watch] 11-Ft King Cobra Rescued From House In Odisha’s Similipal Sanctuary
Baripada: A King Cobra, which had entered a house in pursuit of a monitor lizard, was rescued safely on the outskirts of Similipal sanctuary in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
According to sources, the giant snake was chasing the monitor lizard in the forest area of the sanctuary on Monday afternoon. While escaping, the lizard entered Bangra village and went inside the house of Srikant Nayak. The cobra also followed it into the house.
At the time, nobody was present in the house. While the monitor lizard managed to escape, the cobra lost its way inside the house. After some time, Srikant’s family members came there and found the cobra moving in a room. They closed all windows and doors of the room and informed the Forest department.
A team from Pithabata Range under Baripada forest division went to the village and safely rescued the cobra. Later, they released the snake in a forest area.

Srikanta Mohanty, Range officer, Pithabata Range, Baripada forest division told ANI that they were informed about the King Cobra entering a house on Monday evening. A team was rushed to the spot immediately to rescue to snake, he added.
“The snake was 11 ft long and weighed 6.7 kg. After examination by a local veterinarian, the snake was released into its natural habitat on Tuesday morning. The snake had entered the house while chasing a monitor lizard as per the man whose house the snake had entered,” Mohanty said.
