[Watch] 2 Back-To Back Mild Quakes Jolt Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla

Jammu: Two back-to-back earthquakes with magnitudes 4.9 and 4.8 on the Richter Scale struck Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir early Tuesday morning, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) stated.

According to NCS, the first earthquake of 4.9 magnitude occurred at a depth of 5km around 6:45 am. The second tremor of at 4.8 magnitude occurred at a depth of 10km around 6.52am.

So far, there are no reports of casualties or significant damage. Authorities are monitoring the situation for further developments.
According to reports, a man suffered injuries after he jumped from a building to escape earthquake in Baramulla. Minutes after the tremors were felt, videos of cracks on a mosque and ceiling fan shaking went viral on social media.

Most parts of Kashmir Valley, and Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar in Jammu region fall under Seismic Zone V or very high damage risk zone, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority.
