[Watch] 2 Loco Pilots Injured As Freight Train Hits Another In Punjab’s Sirhind
Fatehgarh Sahib: On the first anniversary of Bahanaga train crash, India’s deadliest since 1995, two loco pilots were injured on Sunday morning (June 2) when a stationary freight train was rear-ended by another train at Sirhind railway station near Madhopur in Punjab.
The trains got off track following the massive collision and engine of one of them hit a passenger train after flipping over to another track, according to news agency PTI.

The injured loco pilots – Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar – have been admitted to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital. Both are residents of UP’s Saharanpur. Vikas Kumar suffered injuries to his head and Himanshu Kumar to his back, a doctor said, adding that they have been referred to the Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.
“Around 3:45 am, we received information that an accident took place. We have reached the spot. Two loco pilots have been injured and they have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib. No casualties have been reported, ” Government Railway Police (GRP), Sirhind Police Station, Ratan Lal was quoted as saying.
While efforts are on to clear the tracks to resume normal rail operations, the authorities are also investigating the cause of the accident.
