Baripada: Amid the COVID pandemic, Raja saw a muted celebration this year too. However, the staff at a COVID hospital in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district ensured that the patients had a good time.
Wearing PPE kits and masks, doctors and health workers at Bankisole Covid Hospital (BCH) here were seen spreading festive cheer among the patients on Monday. They distributed poda pitha (cakes) synonymous with the festival and sweets.
The staff of the hospital were also seen helping women patients wear alta.
They also danced with the affected patients to popular Raja songs, to regale them and help them get out of the gloom.
The doctors and patients also cut a cake on the occasion.
Notably, this is the same hospital that was in the eye of a storm after disturbing photographs of patients, including a woman, lying naked on the floor of a washroom and bed went viral on May 31.
