Bhubaneswar: Most students are still having to study online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To help them unwind from their respective residences, SAI International School has decided to host its annual mega school fest ‘Unwind’ in online mode.
The fest has been named e-unwind for the first time, and will be held on January 23, 2022.
“This year, we have created an online platform to bring all events under one umbrella. There will be virtual lobbies, tracks and auditoriums for students and parents to join various workshops, performances and other events. We have also partnered with food-ordering apps, integrated into our event platform, from where they will be able to order food from a selected list of restaurants using the coupons provided by the school,” said students’ coordinator Anwesha Pattnaik.
Workshops on subjects like cooking, wellness, salsa, tie & dye, face painting, stand-up comedy, art & craft will be organized.
Among other attractions are a movie and virtual world tour, which will be screened for the viewers.
The eArcade will have online games for students and parents. There will also be e-booths featuring riddles and animated videos, while Art Galleria will showcase paintings by students and teachers from all grades.
Creating 100 libraries
A fundraising event organised through a sponsorship drive by students, Unwind is used for raising funds for the school’s CSR project ‘100 libraries’.
Launched in 2015, students of SAI International create 100 small well-stocked libraries for underprivileged children in Bhubaneswar and around. Many students of government schools around Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are benefitted.
“We start every year by raising funds through two flagship events of the school— Unwind and SAITED, which was also held online this year,” Anwesha.
The students have implemented 35 libraries in primary government and schools which have students with disabilities, in the last 5 years. Around 15,000 students have benefitted so far.
