The intruder entered the building and stabbed Saif six times, causing injuries to his hand, neck and spine. He underwent emergency surgeries at Lilavati Hospital and is now stable.
Son Ibrahim rushed Saif to hospital in auto-rickshaw
Saif’s elder Ibrahim Khan took him to the Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw as the driver of their car was not available at that time.
With Saif bleeding heavily, the father-son duo hailed an auto-rickshaw to rush to Lilavati Hospital, about 2 kilometres from their residence.
Saif, his wife and fellow-actor Kareena and their sons live in an apartment, spread over four floors, in a 12-storeyed building in Bandra West.
Seen as a burglary attempt, it could have been a well-planned attack also.
Police sources told NDTV that the attacker entered the compound next to Saif and Kareena’s building and then scaled a wall. The intruder then may have used the stairs in the rear to climb up and taken a fire escape to enter the building.
One of the house helps, Lima, has been questioned by police. She was reportedly the first person to spot the intruder and screamed. Saif confronted the man and tried to overpower him. The man stabbed Saif multiple times, causing injuries to his left hand and neck, and leaving a knife stuck in his spine.
