Ahmedabad: Rishabh Pant’s explosive century at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Friday handed India the advantage in the fourth and final Test against England.
The left-handed Pant was fairly subdued and circumspect in the first half of his innings before exploding with an array of incredible shots against the spinners as well as pacers.
Pant reached his third Test century with a six before falling for 101, which came off 118 balls and included 13 fours, 2 sixes. He and Washington Sundar (60 batting) put on a crucial century partnership as India reached 294/7 in reply to England’s 205.
Some of Pant’s strokes were audacious and cheeky, to say the least. But one shot stood out – a reverse lap/scoop boundary off the great James Anderson, who had till then been extremely difficult to score off.
The video went viral on social media. Watch Pant’s amazing shot here:

Here’s how Virender Sehwag, one of India’s most destructive openers who smashed two Test triple centuries, reacted:
Me Watching Rishabh Pant reverse sweep Anderson for a boundary and then bring up his century with a SIX.
