Berhampur: Refuting rumours about shortage of beds and oxygen in Ganjam, collector Vijay Amrit Kulange said COVID hospitals in the district have sufficient stock of beds as well as oxygen.

The Collector requested people not to believe in such rumours and crowd MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

In a video message the Kulange appealed people with mild symptoms to reach out to the nearest health care centre for assistance.

In  a clear message Kulange asked people not to crowd MKCG and its casualty as it is only for critical patients. “A large number of people with mild symptoms are rushing to MKCG hospital and crowding the facility. People should cooperate and allow doctors to treat critical patients who need their assistance more,” said Kulange.

Those with mild symptoms have been requested to visit designated health care centres or COVID health centre where the staff will ensure admission, if the patient is in need of it, he added.

Moreover, it has been observed that there is pressure on the doctors to given oxygen to the patients, the decision is solely of the doctor and do not force the healthcare staff to do so, Kulange urged people.

Asking the people to be responsible citizens, Kulange requested them to wear mask when they step out of their homes and maintain social distancing to help the administration as well as COVID warriors in checking the spread of the virus.
