New Delhi: The 90s chartbuster ‘Tujhe Dekha To’, from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, has been voted UK’s favourite 90s Bollywood song by BBC, according to India Today. The 1995 film, lovingly called ‘DDLJ’ by fans, was directed by Aditya Chopra. The movie was a blockbuster success and continues to run in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre.

BBC network held a listener poll to find the ultimate 90s Bollywood song. They shortlisted 50 contenders with the help of a panel that included the network’s presenters and some industry experts. They had to choose from songs such as ‘Ole Ole’ from the film ‘Yeh Dillagi’ to ‘Bahon Ke Darmiyan’ from ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’. Ultimately, ‘Tujhe Dekha To’ was declared the winner by a unanimous choice.

The presenters were Haroon Rashid, Nikita Kanda, Gagan Grewal, and Nadia Ali. The industry experts were Asim Burney, Amrita Tanna, and Karan Pangali, the report added.

‘Tujhe Dekho To’ has been sung by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu. The film’s songs were composed by Jatin-Lalit.

The track is linked to a truly unforgettable moment in Bollywood’s history. It features a scene where the lead couple meet each other in a vibrant field of yellow mustard flowers. This became a classic image in 90s Indian pop culture that is still referenced in movies today.
