It won’t be wrong to say that the depiction of festivals of all religions has gone a long way in promoting and encouraging inclusivity in the country. So, on the occasion of Eid, let’s take a look at some recent Hindi movies around the theme of the festival.
Tees Maar Khan
Released in 2010, the song ‘Wallah Re Wallah’ from this Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer showcased the celebratory spirit of Eid. IT was portrayed against the backdrop of Eid celebrations and went on to top the charts. The guest of honour in the song was Salman Khan who did a cameo in the movie and is also known for scheduling all his new releases on Eid.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan
The ‘Aaj Ki Party’ song in this 2015 blockbuster was a rather unconventional Eid song. Sung by Mika Singh and picturised on Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, depicted Eid with great pomp, show and fervour.
Agneepath
This remake of the 1990 movie was as much a hit as the original one. The song Shah Ka Rutba featuring the late Rishi Kapoor and sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Krishna Bewra and Anand Raj Anand is a perfect portrayal of the celebratory spirit of Eid.
Jodhaa Akbar
The song ‘Khwaja Mere Khwaja’ from this iconic movie starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, is the most popular track among the other soulful numbers. Although Sufi in nature, it invokes the Almighty and is full of the spirit of devotion.
Saawariya
The plot of this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is set against the backdrop of Eid. As the story unfolds, it shows a young woman waiting for her lover to return on Eid. The song Yoon Shabnami portrays the spirit of the festival by describing the beauty of the moon.
