Karachi: During the second innings of the tri-series final between Pakistan and New Zealand, the National Stadium in Karachi on Friday witnessed a bizarre scene. A black cat entered the field and the play was halted for a few moments till the feline crossed the boundary ropes and found a place for itself to sit comfortably. The videos of the same has gone viral on the internet.

The feline, who is certainly an internet sensation by now, seemed to be enjoying the spotlight. It ran onto the field and came close to the pitch during New Zealandâs chase of 243. But it wasnât the first time such a thing happened. It was the second time the cat, adored by fans and broadcasters alike, disrupted play on the day. Earlier, during Pakistanâs innings, it had wandered onto the field as well. It was chased away by a kite swooping dangerously close to the ground.
On-air commentators relished the unexpected pause. âJoining the BlackCaps is the black cat,â remarked New Zealand commentator Danny Morrison, while another colleague noted that the feline had become a permanent fixture at the National Stadium. The stadium was however renovated ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, fielding at mid-on, was put to task to chase the cat away when it reappeared. But soon the cat decided to exit on its own.
