[Watch] Indian Coast Guard Airlifts Chinese Man From Ship In Remarkable Night Operation

Mumbai: In a remarkable night operation, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued a Chinese man in distress from a research ship in the middle of the Arabian Sea in challenging weather conditions.

The ship was on way from China to the United Arab Emirates when the Chinese man reported chest pain and symptoms of cardiac arrest.

ICG sprung into action and airlifted the man after which he was taken to a hospital.

“The Indian Coast Guard evacuated the Chinese man from the Panama Flagged Research Vessel MV Dong Fang Kan Tan Number 2, around 200 Km in the Arabian Sea late on Wednesday night amid challenging weather conditions,” ICG said.

Mumbai’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre first received information about one of the crew members on board the research vessel suffering a cardiac attack with high blood pressure on Wednesday night.

The medical team of ICG contacted the ship and provided necessary telemedicine advice immediately.

The man was then airlifted to the shore, administered first aid and transferred to the hospital.

CG ALH and CGAS Daman, which carried out the operation, said the swift operation during the dark hours enabled the “saving of a precious life of a foreign national at sea, reaffirming the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to the motto ‘We Protect’.”
