London: At a time when diplomatic relations between India and Canada have nosedived over the murder of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil, a number of demonstrations and protests are also taking place in countries like the UK.
On Monday, Khalistan supporters gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London to stage a protest.
The administration in London was alert to the situation and ensured the presence of a strong contingent of security forces at the India High Commission. The protesters have been restricted to the opposite side of the High Commission.

Today’s demonstration comes on the heels of Khalistani extremists blocking a planned visit of Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami to a gurdwara in Scotland.
“Certain unknown individuals from outside the Glasgow area attempted to disrupt the visit, following which the visiting party decided to leave the premises,” a statement from the gurdwara said.
“Glasgow Gurdwara strongly condemns such disorderly behaviour to disrupt the peaceful proceedings of a Sikh place of worship. The Gurdwara is open to people from all communities and backgrounds, and we welcome everyone openly as per our principles of faith,” it added.
Two days ago, a Sikh restaurant owner who had earlier received threats from Khalistani sympathisers for being vocal against them, said that his car was shot at and vandalised by extremists in west London.
