[Watch] Man, 4 Daughters Found Dead At Delhi Residence, Suicide Suspected

New Delhi: Five members of a family, including a man and his four daughters, were found dead at their Delhi residence in Vasant Kunj’s Rangpuri Village, the police said on Saturday adding that it suspected the victims allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison.

The police claimed they received a call from a building resident on Friday, who sensed a foul smell from the flat. The resident said he knocked on the door but they didn’t open it, adding that they were last seen on September 24.

Acting on the complaint, the police rushed to the spot and broke the closed door. No injury marks were found on their bodies and three packets of poison, glasses and a spoon were recovered from the flat, the police said in a statement.

The victims have been identified as Heeralal Sharma, 46, who worked as a carpenter, and his daughters Neetu, 26, Nikki, 24, Neeru, 23, and Nidhi, 20. Two of the daughters were differently abled, police said, according to News18.

“The door was bolted from the inside and could be opened by the police with the help of the fire brigade team. There are two rooms in the flat. A male was found lying dead in the first room itself whereas four females were found dead in the other room,” the police said in a statement.

During the initial probe, the police found that the wife of the victim had died of cancer a few years ago. An investigation into the matter is underway, they added.
