[Watch] Mumbai Office-Goers Walk On Tracks After Local Train Services Hit
Mumbai: A video showing hundreds of office-goers and other passengers walking on the railway tracks in Mumbai after services were disrupted due to some technical snag on Wednesday morning went viral on social media.
“A bamboo from a construction site fell onto the overhead equipment (OHE) wire between Sion and Matunga stations on the UP TH line, disrupting suburban services,” said a senior Railway officer from Mumbai Division of Central Railway, according to media reports.
The disruption was caused around 7.25am on Wednesday and services were reportedly resumed after about an hour. The bamboo that fell on the overhead equipment wire was from a construction work that was going on adjacent to the railway line.

Meanwhile, several social media users, including filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared the viral video on X, raising question against the state of Railways. “Mumbaikars walking on railway tracks to reach their office due to failure of local train service. Just ask a simple question: Can you even imagine torture of citizens like this in any civilised country?,” the filmmaker asked.
Reacting to the visuals, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray criticized India’s Railway Ministry.
“And the @RailMinIndia minister will be coming to Maharashtra multiple times as “Prabhari of the bjp” for elections. Everyday the railways dept sees a mishap. Yet the reels of PR continue,” Thackeray wrote on X.
