Visakhapatnam: Two Indian Navy officers had a harrowing experience during an operational demonstration rehearsal of the Eastern Naval Command here on Thursday.
The potentially dangerous mishap took place when the officers, both members of the elite MARCOS (Marine Commandos), were descending on their parachutes. Their parachutes got entangled mid air, but fortunately they avoided collision, as they plunged into the water at Rama Krishna Beach in Visakhapatnam.
The two officers emerged unharmed, thanks to the prompt response of rescue teams.
A video shows one officer descending with the national flag while the other’s parachute got entangled, causing both to lose altitude rapidly and fall into the water near the shore.
