[Watch] No Empty Promises: This Candidate In Odisha’s Rayagada Has Put Them On A Stamp Paper
Rayagada: Fed up with empty promises of politicians, villagers of Kantabanji under Kodipari panchayat of Kashipur block in Rayagada district had decided to boycott the three-tier panchayat polls this time.
As polling day draws near, Independent candidate Rinki Nayak has, however, succeeded to convince the villagers to vote instead of boycotting it.
The U-turn by the villagers came after Rinki put her promises on a stamp paper, assuring them that she would work for the development of the village and ensure basic facilities.
“Whether I win or lose, I plan to work for the development of the village,” she said.
The village has more than 30 families. There are no roads or bridges to the village. No drinking water facility, health care centre or school. To reach the village, one has to wade through a river. Fed up, they had decided to boycott the polls.
