Puri: Odia rapper ‘Big Deal’, Samir Rishu Mohanty, is soaking in the glory of the success of his latest album ‘Sajna’. What makes his debut eponymous album Sajna special for Rishu is the fact that Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan has lent her voice to his album.
Through the album, which was released on Valentine’s Day, Rishu tells the story of his heartbreak. “The pain of heartbreak made me to bring it out all through music,” he said.
The rapper said, “It is a big achievement and dream come true to work with Sunidhi Chauhan and a proud moment for every Odia.”
Talking about collaboration with Sunidhi, Rishu said he was looking for a female voice for the song and he approached the versatile Bollywood singer, who instantly connected with the song and him. “I had sent the lyrics to Sunidhi and she agreed to lend her voice,” he said.
“It was over a WhatsApp call and I choked. She said I should be proud of the beautiful song which she also loved. The comment coming from Sunidhi, who ruled Bollywood for nearly a decade, gave me a lot of validation,” Mohanty recalls. “I had only given a brief what I was looking for and as we all know Sunidhi, she put her heart and soul into it,” he added.
“Working on Sajna was a lot of fun but we could not meet as the son was recorded during the pandemic. The process went very smooth and uncomfortable. Rapper Bid Deal is very very talented and he expresses well,” said Sunidhi in a video message.
The album, produced by Rishu has nine songs, with the first one going by his name.
Some of his favourite tracks include Samir Rishu Mohanty which is like a therapy, followed by Sajna which is very close to his heart and Puri Toka, which he enjoyed doing in a shortest span of time, the rapper had earlier revealed.
Rishu has rapped about Odia food and Jagannath culture which were a craze among the music lovers of the state and nation. He has also released a rap on “Why Call Me Corona” and “I’m a Chinkey”.
