Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik was accorded a warm welcome by Ambassador of India to Japan Sibi George and officials of the Embassy on his arrival in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The CM is leading an official delegation to showcase Odisha’s immense potential as an investment destination. This is the third official overseas trip in his 23-year rule. His itinerary includes one-to-one meetings with potential investors, Odisha Business Meet Tokyo 2023 and an interactive meeting with the Odia diaspora in Japan.

The Chief Minister also conveyed his appreciation for the warmth and hospitality extended by the Japanese government and people towards the delegation and expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening the cultural ties between the two nations. “The visit of the Chief Minister and the state delegation to Japan is a significant step towards promoting Odisha as a preferred investment destination and fostering closer ties between Japan and Odisha,” an official release said.

With the state looking to strengthen ties with Japan in areas of sports and tourism promotion, Naveen is scheduled to meet Representative Director and President of Nippon Steel Corporation Eiji Hashimoto later in the day to discuss avenues of collaboration between NSC and Odisha.
