Bhubaneswar: Congress leader and former Odisha Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik, who is contesting the upcoming elections from Paralakhemundi Assembly seat, is taking a break from campaign after suffering a heatstroke.
In a post on his X handle along with a video message, Patnaik said he is down with fever due to a heatstroke. He said he is undergoing treatment and will soon resume electioneering in Paralakhemundi.
“I write to you with a heavy heart after suffering a heatstroke while campaigning in Paralakhemundi. A subsequent Urinary Tract Infection forced me to return to Bhubaneswar for urgent treatment and rest. Though this pause is temporary, your prayers and support are invaluable as I aim to return to the campaign trail swiftly,” the Congress leader wrote on X.
Patnaik thanked people for their understanding and unwavering belief in Congress’ vision for Paralakhemundi’s future.

The Congress leader is involved in a three-way fight in Paralakhemundi where BJP has fielded incumbent MLA K Narayana Rao, while BJD has nominated industrialist Rupesh Panigrahi.
