Puri: Ahead of the world famous Rath Yatra, artist Biswajit Nayak has created a Nandighosh chariot of Lord Jagannath in miniature form with ice-cream sticks.
Biswajit, who has earned fame for several models made with ice-cream sticks earlier, said the Nandighosh chariot is his latest creation. It is of 16 inches in height and 13 inches in width. It took five days to complete the piece, he added.
The Puri-based artist informed that he has used 975 ice-cream sticks for the chariot. “All parts of the chariot including Dadhinauti, parrot, 16 wheels, four horses, and presiding deities etc have been carved out of ice-cream sticks,” he said.
“Like last year, Rath Yatra will be held without participation of the devotees this time due to COVID-19 pandemic. I have made this miniature model in order make the occasion memorable. I had made a chariot during Rath Yatra last year also,” he added.
He has dedicated the miniature Nandighosh chariot to the devotees of Lord Jagannath.
Biswajeet, an Engineering student in Puri, is already an India record holder and has also found entry in the Asia Book of Records for his models with ice-cream sticks.
