Bhubaneswar: BnR Productions’ short film ‘Ravaiyaa’, which revolves around real life incidents during the coronavirus pandemic, has been released across social media platforms on June 3.
‘Ravaiyaa’ is dedicated to the stranded Indian migrant labourers, who have suffered badly because of the nationwide lockdown necessitated by the outbreak of COVID-19.
Written and directed by Odia filmmaker Biswanath Rath, the short film has been shot on phone and from residences of the respective actors.
Biswanath explained that ‘Ravaiyaa’ means attitude. “This film is our humble attempt to show the brighter/extraordinary side of India’s migrant labourers during this unprecedented time of coronavirus pandemic. It’s based on a true story and a few real incidents which took place across India in the last 2 months of nationwide lockdown,” the filmmaker said.
“For creating/shooting the video/audio, our cast/crew members worked completely from their respective homes. As responsible citizens, we strictly followed and continue to follow the lockdown regulations, social distancing and good hygiene practices,” he added.
‘Ravaiyaa’ is Biswanath’s first crowd-funded short film, with IJ Kakehashi Services Pvt Ltd as the Associate Producer, Pritish R Dash as the Executive Producer and Subhasmita Sethy as Co-Producer.
The film features Ashish Kumar and Rohit Kakde in key roles. The theme song has been written by Biswanath himself and the music has been composed by Bankim Patel. Editing, colour grading, sound design have been taken care of by Vinayak Dasgupta.
Like BnR’s other award-wining short films, this will also be entered at the international film festivals.
