[Watch] Russia Destroyed World’s Largest Plane, Says Ukraine
Kyiv: Russian soldiers have destroyed the largest aircraft in the world, the Antonov AN-225 Mriya, Ukraine has said.
‘Mriya’ is Ukrainian for ‘Dream’.
Ukrainian defence agency Ukroboronprom said the aircraft was destroyed at Hostomel Airport outside Kyiv in Russian shelling.
Antonov Airlines, a unit of Antonov, operated the Mriya, the only AN-225 in the world.
Ukraine’s official Twitter handle posted a picture of the AN-225, saying “They burned the biggest plane but our Mriya will never perish.”
Antonov tweeted that “until the AN-225 is inspected by experts, we cannot report on the technical condition of the aircraft. Wait until the next official announcement.”

Antonov An-225 Mriya built by Soviet Union in 1985 – largest aircraft in the world ever built is reported to be destroyed. Satellite images shows the hanger on fire. But chief pilot of Antonov says Mriya is intact they are waiting on reliable information.
