Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure safety of drivers and bring down road accident rate, the Traffic Police has launched a special drive in the capital city.
During the drive, the owners of four-wheelers will have to pay a penalty ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500, if they are found using tinted glass or black films on the doors of their vehicles under Section 177 of Motor Vehicles Act.
Similarly, if anybody would be found speaking on phone with the help of bluetooth while driving the vehicle in the city, the Traffic Police would impose a penalty upto Rs 5,000 under Section 184 (c) of the Act.

Speaking to media persons on the special drive, ACP Swastik Panda said they would carry out checking of vehicles at strategic locations and arterial roads of the city. In the first phase of the drive, 51 vehicle drivers have been penalised for violating the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, he added.
Stating that they would intensify the drive in future, Panda warned that the vehicles of the owners, who would be violating the Act, would be seized.
