[Watch] Sri Lanka PM’s House Set On Fire By Protesters
Colombo: Having stormed President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s official residence and office earlier in the day, angry protesters set Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private house on fire in Colombo on Saturday evening.
The incident took place hours after Wickremesinghe said he would resign following the demand of party leaders in Parliament that both he and the President must step down.

The evening mayhem was apparently triggered by journalists being attacked by security forces of Wickremesinghe. According to local media reports, a cameraman and two correspondents were assaulted by security officials outside the PM’s residence.
Though the PM expressed regrets over the attack on journalists, an angry mob marched towards Ranil’s private home, barged in and set it on fire.
