[Watch] Team India Meets PM Modi In ‘Champions’ Jersey With 2 Stars; Know What It Denotes
New Delhi: The Indian cricket team—champions of the T20 World Cup 2024—met Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi for breakfast on Thursday at his residence in New Delhi.
They were accompanied by head coach Rahul Dravid.
Besides a photo session with the T20 World Cup trophy, the PM candidly chatted and laughed with all the Indian cricketers.
Earlier in the day, the Men in Blue checked into ITC Maurya at Chanakyapuri here, which is barely 15 minutes from the PM’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The Rohit Sharma-led squad went to the PM’s residence in a bus around 11 am . After meeting the PM, the team returned to the hotel and left for the airport to catch a flight for Mumbai where an open bus parade is scheduled at 5 pm.
New jersey with two stars
The players and the coaching staff were spotted wearing the jersey they wore during the 2024 T20 World Cup. The jersey, however, had the word ‘Champion’ printed below the country’s name. In his official Instagram handle, Sanju Samson posted a photograph of the jersey. The jersey had one more striking difference from its older version. It proudly featured two stars above the BCCI logo denoting India’s two T20 World Cup trophies.
Reports said that this jersey was specially designed for Team India’s meeting with PM Modi.
‘Free entry for public at Wankhede for victory parade’
Meanwhile, in a video interview to ANI, Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Ajinkya Naik said free entry would be given to people at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (July 4) on first-come-first-basis. “We have made all the arrangements in accordance to the guidelines of police and the BCCI. We will allow people to enter from gates 2, 3, 4 and the one from university side on first-come-first-basis,” he said, adding both police and private security personnel deployed by the MCA will take care of the security apparatus at the stadium.
