Bargarh: For the second time in a month, a Royal Bengal Tiger was spotted at Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Saturday.
The big cat was sighted around 200 metres away from the Debrigarh nature camp within the ecotourism zone of the sanctuary for nearly 30 minutes by several tourists who were on a jungle safari.
Hirakud Wildlife Division has confirmed the presence of the tiger. On getting information, the forest department swung into action and installed camera traps and other surveillance to ensure its safe prowling. t
“Tourists spotted the tiger in the eco-tourism zone of the sanctuary in the evening. We have taken several measures to protect the animal. In case of illegal entry, immediate action would be taken against the violators,” Hirakud Wildlife Division DFO Anshu Pragyan Das told the media.
Das also said that Rs 1000 will be awarded to anyone who provides information about poachers, setting up of traps and illegal hooking.
Besides, posters announcing the prize money have also been pasted in the nearby villages.

As a part to protect the big cat, several movie shows are also being organised in the villages to aware people that tigers cause no harm to human beings rather it helps the forest to grow.
Debrigarh sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Over 40 species of mammals, 200 species of birds, 40 species of reptiles, 12 species of amphibians, 42 species of fishes, 39 species of odonates, 85 species of butterflies and 38 species of spiders are stated to be living in the sanctuary.
