Washington: The first Hindu American to run for the White House in 2020, Tulsi Gabbard, on Tuesday announced her decision to quit the governing Democratic Party while calling it an “elitist cabal of warmongers”.
This move comes ahead of next month’s crucial mid-term elections.
The 41-year-old former Hawaii Congresswoman, who retired from the House of Representatives last year, took to Twitter to make the claims about the Democratic party. In the video announcement, she said: “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic party that is under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism.”

“The Democrats of today divide us by racialising every issue, stoking anti-white racism, and are actively working to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution,” she said in another tweet.
She has, however, kept everyone guessing about her next move.
The first-ever Hindu was elected for four consecutive terms to the US House of Representatives since 2013 from Hawaii.
