“This is the realization of our Prime Minister’s dream… his vision is to have our own 4G, 5G technology stack developed in India, made in India, made for the world.. we have to win the world with this entire technology stack,” Vaishnaw can be seen as saying.
PM Modi earlier this month inaugurated the country’s first 5G testbed at IIT Madras to enable start-ups and industry players to test and validate their products locally and reduce dependence on foreign facilities.
The Department of Telecom is likely to move for final approval of 5G spectrum auction to the Union Cabinet next week, reported NDTV.
5G services are expected to be rolled out later this year.
